The start of a new Self-Daily Challenge.
As I just mentioned. I'm in a bit of a drawing funk. As I was browsing through DA's stock photos yesterday, I noticed that a lot of stock-artist have a "anything-is-fine-as-long-as-it's-on-DA" kinda thing going. This intimidated me, like ... can I even post wips on my blog? I know I can ask, and they probably don't bite. But I'm quite timid. It just seemed too small of a thing to bother. The first conclusion was not to use their stock. But then I had an... epifany! I'll just use it for practice and post it here, on DA! A Daily Challenge! Like the last one only this one specifies background and scenery. In theory, once I get through this, I should be able to draw my own background and no longer need to rely on their stock (as much).
So specifications:
1) a new drawing each day.
2) time ends at midnight.
3) needs to be a bit scenic, or something that I would use in the background of a picture
4) draw daily, exceptions once in a while for family/emergencies, but no more than one day
5) reference not necessary (but perferred as the goal is to learn and improve)
6) any medium
7) currently there is no set end to this (i'm aiming for at least a month)
Disclaimer: I have a feeling somebody stumbling here might get confused. This is a personal project/challenge I am undertaking. If you wish to do it yourself, I applaud you, but uh... it really has nothing to do with me. So no need to ask permission if you want to do it too. (^ ^ ; )

Musings about time on DA...
It's been a long time. For some reason and somehow I wandered back here.
One of the big things that confused me was the new DA logo. "What's this weird green X site?" I was kinda glad to find out that the logo was changed only recently, that I hadn't really been gone for that long (I pop in to look at art from time to time).
I've somehow managed to whittle down my 2k+ DA messages back down to a reasonable number (a bit surprised it wasn't more). Actually, I think I've looked through them all even if I haven't deleted them.
Well, anyways, there were several piled up journals along the lines of "Hi! Oh my gosh, I haven't been here in a while
It's nearly been a year
It's been nearly a year since my last journal update. I've been around... kinda... After all, I've been sparsely updating art throughout the year. Lol. :giggle:
The thing is... DA has changed with a lot of new features since I was really active (it's probably been over a year since I was really active), so I feel like I no longer understand DA culture ^^; Submitting images? that's easy. But, "What am I really supposed to do with these Llamas!?" Haha. Also... it feels kinda silly to go thanking people for faves from like... a year ago... (. . ; ). But I think I'm going to do that anyways, out of principle. I like to thank people when I can. ^
Being Thankful
I don't know about you, but for me it is too easy to focus on all the things I don't have rather than the things I do have. I think we as people habitually focus too much on what we want (in other words what we don't have) and not so much what we have. Because of that, I think it is easy for us to lose focus of what's important. I know I did...
For the first time in a long time I am only starting to appreciate and treasure what I do have. I am lucky. I have a lot, alot more than I realized.
It is Thanksgiving in America today, and I would like to say "Thank you". I wish there was a way to send my actual feelings to the world, but I suppose
Journal Testing and other things (^-^, )
Journal Testing
I've been using DA's subscription now on and off, and I think this is the first time I'm using the custom CSS journal feature. :giggle: With one day left before it expires this time, I thought I'd give it a shot. I really like this design by NyssaDuck (https://www.deviantart.com/nyssaduck) :D
Since my schedule is looking quite busy once September starts, I'm gonna wait until then to see if I want to renew my subscription ^^;. It really depends on how active I'm going to be able to be on DA. Hopefully I will be more active. ^^;
Work-in-Progress
:excited:
Here's a couple WIPs. I actually have quite a few more. I'm starting to dig out old un-finished stuff and t
